The occupation forces arrest two children from Silwan…prison sentences…extensions of arrest…releases

The occupation forces arrested on Sunday two Jerusalemite children while being in the playground of Al-Bustan neighborhood in Silwan.

Witnesses explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center that the forces raided the playground and stopped two young men for several minutes before letting them go. Afterwards, they headed towards the children and arrested Sultan Samer Sarhan (12) and Ahmad Ziad Zidani (13) and transferred them for interrogation.

Prison sentence

Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the judge sentenced the child Mohammad Abed for a suspended probation of 3 months for three years and a 1000-NIS fine, and sentenced Yehya Abed Kamel for 100 days in prison, a suspended probation of 3 months for three years and a 3600-NIS fine.

Sentencing deal

Lawyer Mahmoud also reached a deal with the public prosecution to sentence Mohammad Samir Obeid, Mouath Obeid and Ahmad Abu A’bed for 20 months of actual imprisonment; a session was scheduled on 16/5/2017 to confirm the sentences.

Extensions of arrest

Lawyer Mahmoud added that the judge extended the arrest of the children Musleh Shihadeh until 85/5/2017, Ahmad Salaymeh and Mohammad Abu Asab until 16/5/2017, Saleh Abu Asab until 1/5/2017, Amir Ishaq Abu Hadwan until 18/5/2017, Mo’men Mheisen until 13/6/2017, Mohammad Shweiki and Hamdi Jaber until 5/4/2017.

The judge also extended the arrest of Sami Abed Fteiha and Hasanein Zghayyar until 5/4/2017, Jamal Assaileh and Huthaifa Shreiteh until 6/4/2017 and Khalil Naser until 4/4/2017.


The judge decided to release Basel Someiri with a 1000-NIS bail and deportation from the area of Damascus Gate for 30 days while Mohammad Assaileh was released with a 5000-NIS third-party bail.
