Jabal Al-Mukabber…The Sarri family self-demolishes 5 commercial stores
September 7, 2020

The Sarri family self-demolished five commercial stores in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber in Jerusalem late on Monday evening, by decision of the occupation municipality.

Abed Sarri, one of the shop owners, explained that the occupation municipality forced him and his family to demolish their commercial stores that they depend on for their livelihood, under the pretext of building without a permit, despite their 10 years' attempt to issue a building permit without any success. The family had to build the shops 4 years ago, and the occupation authorities started pursuing them since that time.

Sarri explained that the occupation municipality imposed abuilding violation fee on the family worth 60,000 shekels, and the family was committed to making the payments until this day, and despite that they received a call from the municipality to force them to self-demolish the shops, otherwise they have to pay a demolition fee of 70,000 shekels "to the municipality and the accompanying forces."
