The occupation municipality forced two Jerusalemite families to self-demolish their own facilities, under the pretext of building without a permit, in order to avoid imposing financial penalties on them.

Wadi Hilweh Information Center stated that Mu’taz Khalil was forced to self-demolish his house in the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood, where he lived with his family of 4 individuals.

Mu’taz Khalil explained that the municipality issued a final decision to self-demolish his house, otherwise its crews will implement the demolition, explaining that more than 9 sessions were held regarding the house over the past years, and a fine "construction violation" of 24,000 shekels was imposed on him.

Khalil added that the house consists of two floors, "a hall, bedrooms and utilities."

In the Ras al-Amoud neighborhood in Silwan, Ihsan Abu Saud and his sons self-demolished their commercial facility, which is a "garage for repairing vehicles."

Abu Saud explained that the facility has been in existence for about 17 years, with an area of 120 square meters, and "unlicensed building" violations, about 60,000 shekels, were imposed on him, which he was committed to making the monthly payments.

Abu Saud pointed out that the building that contains his house is threatened with demolition, and the municipality also issued a decision to demolish a caravan near the house, knowing that it has been in place for decades.
