Jabal Al-Mukabber…Mohannad Bashir self demolishes his home
On Monday, Mohannad Ibrahim Bashir self-demolished his house in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber following an order by the occupation municipality under the pretext of building without a permit.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that Mohannad Bashir was force to self-demolish his house in “Bashir” neighborhood after he was given until Monday to carry out the demolition. Otherwise, the occupation bulldozers will have to do so on his expense which could sum up to 60 thousand NIS.
Ibrahim Bashir explained that the Ministry of Interior issued a decision to demolish the house after completing the construction process early this year, and imposed a financial violation of 95,000 shekels on the family, yet it refused to postpone or freeze the demolition decision for an additional period.
Bashir added that the area of the house is 150 square meters, and 5 people live in it, including 3 children aged 6 years, 4 years and 7 months, and it is built of reinforced sheets.
He explained that his brother and family members emptied the contents of the house, dismantled the windows, doors and furniture, and started the demolition process, in order to avoid paying new financial fines, pointing out that the municipality refuses to organize the area to allow families to build and expand.
He said: "We build and demolish with our own hands, and we are steadfast in Jerusalem and we will not leave it."
