On Saturday, the Israeli occupation municipality forced two Jerusalemites to self-demolish their homes under the pretext of building without a permit.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center - Jerusalem stated that the two young men, Ali Sari from the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber, and Mohammad Matar from Silwan, demolished their homes, in order to avoid paying fines and the "demolition fee" - which is imposed on the owner of the house for the municipal mechanisms, crews and forces accompanying them-.
Mohammad Matar, explained that the police stormed his house on Friday, and demanded that he demolish it immediately, otherwise the municipality will do so during this week, forcing him to empty the contents of the house immediately and start the demolition process, using self-demolition tools.
Matar added that his house has been in existence since 2012, and the municipality issued a demolition decision immediately after he moved to live in it.
Matar explained that the municipality stormed his house during Eid al-Adha, and demanded that he demolish the house within 21 days.
There are 6 people living in the house, including 4 children.
Ali Sari, explained that the municipality forced him to carry out the demolition of his house, which he built about 4 months ago.
Sari added that 5 people live in the house, including 3 children.
He pointed out that the municipality had confiscated construction equipment during the construction of the house, with a value of 10,000 shekels, and then he continued construction, and the municipality issued a demolition decision, refusing to freeze it and his attempts to license it.
