Pictures…The Shkeirat and Obeid families self-demolish 4 apartments by order of the occupation municipality
On Monday, two families from the towns of Jabal Al-Mukabber and Issawiya self-demolished 4 apartments, by a decision of the occupation municipality, in order to avoid paying fines.
Jabal Al-Mukabber
The two brothers, Basem and Mahmoud Shkeirat, self-demolished their apartments, after 10 years of trying to license them and protect them from the threat of demolition.
The family explained that 12 people live in the two houses, with a total area of 160 square meters, and a building violation of 50,000 shekels was imposed on the family.
In the late evening, the family emptied the two apartments of contents and furniture, while today its members are without shelter.
Issawiya
The two brothers, Ahmed and Abdel Rahman Obeid, were preparing their apartments for housing. The family started building them a year ago until the municipality issued a decision to stop construction, and a few days later a demolition decision was issued.
The family added that the total cost of the construction was nearly 180,000 shekels.
