On Sunday, the occupation municipality bulldozers demolished the homes of the Matar family in Jabal al-Mukabber village, south of Jerusalem, under the pretext of building without a permit.

The occupation forces, accompanied by bulldozers and municipality crews, stormed the homes of the Matar family in the village of Jabal al-Mukabber, surrounded them completely, surrounded the main entrance leading to them, and prevented access to the place.

The wife of the Jerusalemite prisoner, Hussam Matar, explained that the forces assaulted those present during the storming of the houses, and prevented them from completely emptying the contents. She said: “A baby was in one of the rooms of the house, and his mother - who was with us in the hall at the beginning of the raid - tried to enter to get him out, but the forces refused to allow her, and even prevented us from taking the baby’s personal belongings. We were forced to leave the house."

As for Rateb Matar, he explained that the building consists of two floors, "3 apartments", in which he lives with his family, his son Mohammad and his family, and the family of his brother Hussam.

Matar explained that the house has existed since 2017, and since that time the family has tried to obtain a license for it. He said: "We fought to obtain a license. At first we were able to cancel the administrative demolition decision, then an indictment of “building without a permit” was filed against us, so we submitted a planning project for the area, but unfortunately the municipality and the competent departments did not consider that.

The contents of the Matar family's homes were scattered, while the family's children were busy collecting toys and clothes from under the rubble.
