NGO employees run marathon in support for Silwan
Employees of various non-governmental and aid sector organisations formed a Silwan solidarity team for this year's marathon from the Dead Sea to the Red Sea. 10 employees of various organisations in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (United Nations, GIZ, FORUM ZFD, WHO) from a wide range of backgrounds (Germany, Ethiopia, USA, Romania) ran the gruelling 242km marathon to raise awareness about Silwan and the problems faced by its community.
While the team had hoped to reach the Red Sea within 24 hours, they managed the distance in much less, arriving in Aqaba 19 hours and 22 minutes later. The experience was described as "incredible" by all team members, who felt all the more enriched by having run the marathon for such a meaningful cause.
