Two youth arrested in Wadi Hilweh after settlers swim in Silwan spring
December 19, 2011

Israeli forces arrested two Palestinian children on Friday afternoon, 16 December, from Wadi Hilweh district of Silwan. Muhammad Adan al-Karaki, 18, and Zaid Ayoub Fetiha, 15 , were arrested at 3pm on charges of stone-throwing.   Eyewitnesses report that the arrests seem to have been triggered not due to alleged stone-throwing, but by a quarrel between Palestinian residents and Israeli settlers at Silwan's spring next to the Wadi Hilweh mosque, where settlers had gone bathing. Police responded to a phone call from one of the settlers present, and arrested the two youth on arrival. Police assaulted several people when residents attempted to block the arrests.
