Ewisat Denied the Police's claims & Abu Turk Confirmed He Was Targeted by Israeli forces
On Friday two journalists - Atta Ewessat and Mahfuz Abu Turk - were injured by rubber bullets after Israeli forces raided the grounds of al-Aqsa. The Wadi Hilwe’s Information Centre interviewed them. Photographer and Reporter Atta Ewesat Currently in Bet Hadasa Ein Karem's hospital after a rubber bullet was shot at his face. He has a broken jaw, split upper lip and four missing teeth. In an interview with Wadi Hilwe's Information Centre, he discussed the following police statement: "Atta was injured from a stone to his face. He was taken out by the Red Cross to the Dun gate where he refused to let the police's paramedic treat him. He left the scene and went to the Burak yard where he asked photographers to take pictures of him, claiming he wasn't offered any treatment." Eswisat responded with: "I was hit by a hard object which exploded in my face. I didn't know what it was; it was when the Israeli forces raided al- Aqsa at the Dun gate. I tried to find somewhere to sit in and protect myself but I was injured and fell to the ground. One of the officers saw me and pushed me, with no care for my health; he took me in a small car. I asked them to transfer me to the hospital but they refused and continued staring at me whilst I was bleeding. They tried to convince me to go to the Asbat Gate. A paramedic from the police then came and asked me if I need any help. I asked him to get me an ambulance and after a long argument I left through the Dun gate walking by a huge Israeli group. I reached the Burak Gate and a few reporters saw me and called the ambulance." Ewissar condemned the Police's statement, saying: "They acted in a racist and inhumane way, trying to get away from their responsibility. I didn't mind my injury the way I minded the lack of humanity in the police. They didn't see me as a bleeding person who needs help". He assured us that he will be pressing charges. The Journalist Mahfuz Abu Turk Mahfuz was treated in the Makassed hospital and he told the Information Centre: "I was injured by a rubber bullet to my left ear, and need trhee stitches". He confirmed that he was injured near the Hatta gate inside al-Aqsa and clarified that he was targeted by Israeli forces. "There were no confrontations when I was hit, the forces were surrounding the whole area. They started shooting towards me whilst I was standing."
