Demonstration in Sheikh Jarrah by Prisoners’ Families
March 19, 2013

On Thursday a demonstration was organised by the committee of the Prisoners' Families in Jerusalem and the Prisoners' Club. The demonstration, in solidarity with prisoners on hunger strike inside Israeli jails, took place in front of the Red Cross in Sheikh Jarrah. Many known personalities participated, including local authority members, known activists and released prisoners. They carried the picture of prisoner Samer al Essawi with the words "Freedom is soon".   Nasser Kaws said the Prisoners' Club are planning many activities for the prisoners. These will take place during a visit to Palestinian lands by US president in the next few days. Planned activities include next Saturday’s debate with released prisoners at the centre of Dirasat al Quds and next Saturday’s joint activity between families of prisoners from Jerusalem and the West Bank in front of the Sami centre in Ramallah. On Tuesday a solidarity stand will also take place.   Amjad Abu Assab, the head of the Prisoners' Parents Committee, asks the Red Cross to interfere and take a position against the occupation's oppression. He assured us that the action will continue next week at the Red Cross.
