The release of Said Abu Jamal after assaulting and hitting him in Al-Aqsa
The Israeli police released on Wednesday Said Abu Jamal, but he has to stay away from Al-Aqsa for at least 7 days and signed a bail of 3000 NIS.
Abu Jamal was arrested on Tuesday afternoon from the yards of Al-Aqsa after it was raided by the Special Forces.
Said, who is bruised and wounded in his head and back, narrated to Wadi Hilweh Information Center what happened with him on Tuesday: “after the noon prayer was over, I was on my way outside of Al-Aqsa and the Special Forces had already started the raid. Suddenly, I was attacked by some individuals of the special units along with another man and we were sprayed with pepper gas and then they put our shirts on our faces.”
He continues: “I was pulled from my legs and dragged a long way in the yards of Al-Aqsa until I arrived at the Silsileh Gate police station and I was handcuffed. During that time, the special units’ individuals were constantly kicking me with their legs and hands on my face, head and stomach along with verbally insulting me.”
He also said: “we arrived to the police station and got detained in the bathroom and when we asked for some drinking water, they poured water on us that we don’t know where it came from and then we were transported to “Al-Qishleh” in order to be investigated.”
He points out that he asked the investigator to send him to the hospital becasuse he had pain but was told that the ambulance will be on his own expense; Abu Jamal agreed but was investigated until 8 p.m. and then got sent to Al-Maskobyeh.
Upon arrival to Al-Maskobyeh, the on-duty doctor asked to immediately transfer him to Hadassah EinKerem Hospital where he stayed until 7 a.m. the next day. He was accompanied by the police who refused to take off the handcuffs while he was in bed; he was then transferred again to Al-Maskobyeh and was released later on but had to stay away from Al-Aqsa.
