Friday Prayer in Al-Fateh Mosque in Silwan
Dozens of Jerusalemites and Palestinians inside the green line participated in the Friday prayer in Al-Fateh Mosque located in Ras Al Amoud - Silwan. The prayer was organized in the mosque to express the refusal of the Jerusalem’s Municipality’s decision to demolish part of the mosque which is the women’s chapel, under the pretext of building without a permit. The area to be demolished is 70 square meters which was built 4 years ago on a land owned by Al-Awqaf. Sheikh Raed Salah, head of the Islamic party inside the green line, condemned the Israeli decision pointing out that the land on the east side of the mosque used to be an Islamic cemetery and is now occupied by Israelis. Sheikh Raed praised all who defended Al-Aqsa Mosque insisting on the importance of protecting it.
