A series of arrests in Jerusalem…. And ordering young men to stay away from Al-Aqsa
The occupation forces carried out a series of arrests and raids on Tuesday in several neighbourhoods in the city of Jerusalem. Witnesses said that the intelligence along with police individuals and borders police raided several neighbourhoods in Jerusalem and arrested a number of young men and handed others calls for investigation in the police stations. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that Israeli forces raided the neighbourhood of Bab Hutta and surrounded its entrances, and then arrested Hussam Sider, Amin Dweik, Mohammad Tamimi, Mohammad Shahin and Dia’ Hassan and transferred them to Al-Qishleh police station in the old city. They were investigated and interrogated regarding “inciting youths to participate in the day of heading to Al-Aqsa, in addition to throwing stones and firecrackers at Israeli forces.” After the young men were released on Tuesday afternoon, they said that the occupation police released them on condition of staying away from Al-Aqsa for 15 days and house arrest for 5 days in addition to signing a 5000-NIS bail. The forces also arrested Ala’ Haddad, member of Jerusalem detainees and prisoners families committee, who pointed out that the occupation forces raided his home twice in the early morning hours and then came back at noon time and arrested him and then transferred him to Al-Qishleh police station. Ala’ said that they asked him not to go to Al-Aqsa on Wednesday and threatened him to keep him away from Al-Aqsa for 15 days if he doesn’t obey. The forces also handed a call to Omar Shalabi, Secretary of Fateh movement in Jerusalem, after raiding his home in the neighbourhood of Al-Sowaneh. They also handed his brother Mohammad and Haj Nihad Zghayyar calls as well. The police extended on Tuesday night the arrest of Omar Shalabi until Wednesday on charges of inciting individuals to participate in the day of heading to Al-Aqsa “Nafeer Day”. They also arrested Hijazi Abu Sbeih from inside his store in the old city and extended his arrest until Wednesday. In a related matter, the police released on Tuesday Fahmi Al-Basti, Wisam Sider, Firas Natsheh, Mahmoud Dweik and Suleiman Is’eed on conditions of house arrest for 5 days and staying away from Al-Aqsa for 15 days knowing that they were arrested on Tuesday early morning hours from their houses. The Magistrate court extended the arrest of 20-year old Laith Naser Gheith knowing that he was arrested from his home in Bab Hutta and took him to Al-Qishleh then onto Al-Maskobyeh. The occupation police also arrested on Tuesday Ahmad Salhab and Mahmoud Bazlameet after raiding their homes in Al-Thori. Mohammad Mahmoud, Al-Dameer organization lawyer, explained that the Magistrate court extended their arrest until Wednesday, but the Israeli intelligence appealed the decision to the District court which approved to extend their arrest until Thursday night for investigation. The court also released Kareem Siam from Beit Hanina with a third-party bail, knowing that he was arrested on Tuesday early morning hours. Ibrahim Abu Sara was also released by the Magistrate court with a 1000-NIS bail and house arrest for 14 days; Ala’ Yassin and Ahmad Yassin were also released as well. This series of arrests came one day before “the day of heading to Al-Aqsa” “Nafeer Day” as the Israeli Jewish extremist groups called to break into Al-Aqsa on occasion of the “Hebrew new year”.
