Heavy deployment of Israeli forces in Jerusalem and around Al-Aqsa
September 3, 2013

Israeli forces deployed in large numbers in the old city of Jerusalem on Tuesday night and on the gates of Al-Aqsa Mosque and inside its courtyards. This deployment came one night before “Nafeer Day” “day of heading to Al-Aqsa” to confront the Israeli break-ins of Al-Aqsa Mosque on occasion of the so-called “Hebrew New Year”. The forces established iron checkpoints on the gates of Al-Aqsa (Silsileh, Nather, and Hutta) and prevented men below the age of 50 from entering Al-Aqsa to perform the night prayer. Dozens of young men performed the night prayer outside Al-Aqsa gates. In a related matter, nearly fifty citizens announced that they would spend the night inside Al-Aqsa to pray, and to confront the Jewish calls to raid Al-Aqsa on Wednesday. Witnesses said Police requested the young men to go outside of Al-Qibli Mosque and remained stationed at the outside gates of the mosque. The Jewish groups had published calls to carry out group break-ins to Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish holidays this month.
