Israeli forces break into Silwan to secure the settlers’ celebrations
Israeli forces raided the neighbourhood of Wadi Hilweh in the town of Silwan on Thursday in an attempt to arrest several children and young men.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center said that settlers headed to Silwan in the afternoon hours towards “Ein Silwan” to perform their special religious rituals at a time when several children raised Palestinian flags and banners that said “I Love You Silwan”; some settlers tried to assault the children and seize their flags. The Center added that a large force from the police and borders police raided the town and were stationed in the center of Wadi Hilweh; they seized the flags from the children and threatened to arrest them and then were deployed in the small alleys of the neighbourhood. The settlers were dancing while the Qur’an was being read and tried to provoke the locals with the dances and moves they made in the streets which resulted in high tension in the area.
