Details of distributing administrative demolition orders in Silwan
September 8, 2013

Joint crews from the municipality and Israeli forces raided the town of Silwan on Sunday morning, and handed out administrative demolition orders to several commercial establishments and a sports playground, under the pretext of building without a permit. Wadi Hilweh Information Center said that the municipality’s crews hung an administrative demolition order on Wadi Hilweh playground, where 4 barracks are built on the playground land which is 850 square meters, and three of them are used for horses and one for sports equipment, knowing that the land is owned by the family of Siam and the playground was built after the Israeli authorities threatened to seize the land. The Center’s crew added that the locals of Wadi Hilweh transformed the land into a playground so it can be used by the locals and children of the neighbourhood –public benefit- towards the end of 2010, and after few months a barracks which was established on the land was demolished in addition to sweeping the land. The municipality’s crews also hung 3 demolition orders on three closed commercial stores that belong to Qaraeen family in the neighbourhood of Wadi Hilweh, knowing that the stores have been built for 20 years and the municipality claims that they are built with no permit. The stores are being used as storage space for the families because they are unable to open them as retail stores because of the high taxes that will be imposed on them. The municipality’s crews raided a house that is under construction in Ein Al-Lozeh and then found out that it is licensed. The municipality’s employees hung an administrative demolition order on 3 barracks that are used to sell birds and are built since 2001.
