Extending the arrest of 10 Jerusalemites and the release of 10 others

The Israeli District and Magistrate courts extended the arrest of 6 Jerusalemites, and released 10 others after detaining them for a few days; the police also arrested young man Naser Ajaj from the old city of Jerusalem on Wednesday. Mohammad Mahmoud, Al-Dameer organization lawyer, said that the Israeli Magistrate court sentenced 17-year old Khaled Mughrabi for 4 months of actual imprisonment on charges of throwing stones and damaging settlers’ cars, note that he has been arrested since 26/05/2013. He added that the District court judge decided on Wednesday to release Mahmoud Alayan and Shahin Alayan from Esawyeh, on condition of house arrest until completing the legal procedures against them, and with a bail of 12 thousand NIS each, and signing a 10-thousand NIS bail, knowing that the general prosecution submitted an indictment against them which included the assault of a settler in the village. The Magistrate court judge decided to release Mohammad Qneibi from Al-Thori neighbourhood with a bail of 500 NIS and house arrest for 5 days. In a related matter, the Jerusalemite prisoners and detainees families committee said that the District court convicted on Wednesday afternoon the two Jerusalemite prisoners Kifah Sarhan and Yacoub Abu Asab for being active in Hamas movement and also convicted Jerusalemite prisoner Ahmad Alayan for participating in the activities of the leadership of Hamas movement, and a court session has been scheduled for them on 28/10/2013 for sentencing. Kifah and Yacoub were arrested 22 months ago, and the occupation forces delayed the court procedures on purpose, while prisoner Ahmad Alayan is still under house arrest which was imposed on him almost two years ago. The Magistrate court extended on Tuesday the arrest of Laith Husseini and Ishaq Ghateet until Friday, to submit an indictment against them in the District court. The judge released Mohammad Barakat without any conditions after detaining him for few days. In a related matter, the Israeli police released on Tuesday four young men from the old city of Jerusalem with a decision from the District court on condition of house arrest until 15/09/2013. The four young men are: Ahmad Abu Sbeih, Abdelatheem Abu Sbeih, Adli Najib and Thaer Zghayyar. Lawyer Mufeed Al-Hajj from the prisoner’s club explained that the police released Shadi Abu Farha and Malek Zirba from the old city after signing a personal bail of 2000 NIS and house arrest for 5 days. Al-Hajj pointed out that the Magistrate court extended the arrest of Mousa Hasan Amira from the village of Sur Baher until the 29th of September, 2013 when the so-called conduct officer submits his report regarding the possibility of releasing him on condition of house arrest; an indictment was submitted against him that included charges of participating in the latest Aqsa events. Lawyer Anwar Abu Lafi said that the Magistrate court extended the arrest of 3 young men from Al-Sowaneh neighbourhood until next Thursday. They are:  16-year old Mohammad Riyad Abu Lafi, 21-year old Mohammad Mutasem Abu Lafi, and 24-year old Mohammad Munther Mshashe’. They were arrested on Wednesday morning from their homes after last Friday’s incidents. The District court also extended on Tuesday the arrest of Eyad Omar Shalabi until the 13th of October, 2013 on charges of stabbing an Israeli settler.
