Madaa Center celebrates the graduation of 15 women from a first-aid course
Madaa Silwan Creative Center held last Sunday the graduation ceremony for 15 women that completed a first-aid course. The ceremony was held at the center’s headquarters in the neighbourhood of Wadi Hilweh in Silwan. Sahar Abbasi, head of women’s projects at the center, explained that 15 women between the ages of 35-50 from the town of Silwan received a training course in first-aid; the course was provided by the Palestinian Medical Relief Society. Abbasi said: “the course targeted the older women because of the need to improve their knowledge and familiarity of providing first-aid to the injured, and the town needs it because of the almost daily settlers and Israeli forces’ assaults that occur in Silwan. This will allow the women to provide necessary treatment for their families or neighbours in case of emergency.” Abbasi pointed out that the center carries out several projects and programs to improve the Palestinian women’s capabilities such as sewing, mosaic, embroidery, sports, foreign languages and computer, in addition to awareness lectures and counseling for women.
