Wadi Hilweh Information Center hosts the mentors of “Our Youths”

Wadi Hilweh Information Center hosted the mentors of “Our Youths” (Shababna) project from the 1948 lands. “Our Youth” is a joint project between (I’lam) and (Jama’) centers and “Arab Association for Human Rights”. Musa Abbasi, youth groups’ coordinator and coordinator of the project “We are here, my country” welcomed the group and provided them with a description about Wadi Hilweh Information Center and its activities. He also briefed them about the daily violations the town of Silwan is exposed to by settlers and occupation forces, stressing on the importance of such visits in order to reveal the Israeli procedures in Jerusalem and highlights the suffering of the people. Mahmoud Qaraeen, the Center’s mentor, took the group on a tour in the neighbourhoods of Wadi Hilweh and Al-Bustan and explained about the settlement activities that the town of Silwan is exposed to in addition to the twisted ways they use to confiscate peoples’ properties. He also talked about the daily violations in terms of arrests, confiscation of homes, demolition processes and abusive financial fines. Ahmad Khalifeh, “Our Youths” project coordinator, talked about the project’s objectives which aim at forming a youth group from the areas that are part of the project in order to create an active group that affects the youth in general in order to be the leading group that has the main role in making a positive change using the contents in the younger leadership, media and human rights.
