Confiscating a truck load of meat for Raja’ee Zahdeh
The Ministry of Health employees - veterinary Services- confiscated on Thursday a truck load of meat that belong to merchant Raja’ee Zahdeh. Raja’ee said that employees from the Ministry of Health - veterinary Services- confiscated a truck “cooler” load of meat that is estimated to cost around 120 thousand NIS and handed him a document to destroy the goods without clarifying the reasons. He explained that the truck was confiscated while it was in the neighbourhood of Jabal Al-Mukabber and was transferred to the veterinary services in Ramot west of Jerusalem where he was handed the document to destroy the goods. Zahdeh explained that he had loaded the goods (thighs) yesterday from “Tnuva” slaughterhouse near Bisan and the driver was hardly able to deliver the goods to Jabal Al-Mukabber because of a malfunction in the truck; note that a mechanic checked the truck and explained the risk of driving it. The driver emptied the truck and moved the goods to a different one which is when the municipality crews along with a veterinarian were passing by and ordered the driver to open the cooler. Zahdeh added that the driver told the municipality employee what he went through but he refused to respond and forced him to drive the truck to the veterinary center in Ramot. The truck broke down on the way and the municipality brought a mechanic who temporarily fixed the truck and were able to drive it to the center after Zahdeh and the original driver refused to drive it. Zahdeh Continued: “the municipality employees tried to unload the truck to destroy the goods and that was when I refused and called the police which came to the center along with my lawyer. I also called “Tnuva” company who stressed on the importance of examining samples before destroying the goods.” He added that the truck is held at the veterinary center until Sunday which is when he will go to court to retrieve it. Zahdeh pointed out that he has been working in distributing meat for several years and never had such a problem.
