November 24, 2013

The Israeli Magistrate court sentenced a young man from Esawyeh for actual imprisonment on Wednesday. Al-Dameer organization lawyer said that the Magistrate court judge sentenced Yousef Mheisen for 7 months of actual imprisonment and extended the arrest of Shidad Al-A’war until 16/01/2014. In a related matter, Prisoner’s Club lawyer, Mufeed Al-Hajj, said that the Magistrate court judge released on Wednesday the minor Mohammad Dari from Esawyeh with his father’s bail, and extended the arrest of minor Mohammad Samir Obeid until next Sunday to continue the investigation; note that they were both arrested a week ago on charges of throwing Molotov cocktails near the Hebrew University. Ah-Hajj added the so-called “conduct officer” submitted on Wednesday his report regarding Mustafa Tarhooni from the old city and recommended to minimize the sentence against him. Accordingly, the judge ordered him to pay a bail of 3000 NIS and sentenced him for a suspended probation of 6 months for 3 years; note that he was arrested in March of this year for two days and was then put on house arrest in the house of his brother-in-law in Beit Hanina. The Magistrate court postponed the sentencing of Mahmoud Jaber from the old city until Thursday in order to either sentence him for two months in prison or public service for three months. Mahmoud was arrested in September during clashes and was then released with a bail and house arrest. On Wednesday, 21-year old Suleiman Tiryaqi from the old city started “public service” for three months; note that he was arrested in March of this year during Al-Aqsa incidents and was detained for 11 days and then sentenced for 18 months of house arrest. The administration of “Ofek” prison released 17-year old Issa Hussein Kurd after completing his 3-month sentence; he was charged of throwing stones in Silwan. Issa said that he was arrested in June 2011 for one week and was then released with a bail and on condition of house arrest for 4 days and the sentence of actual imprisonment for three months was issued last July.
