Extending the arrest of 14 Jerusalemites and postponing the trial of 5 activists

The District and Magistrate courts extended on Tuesday the arrest of 14 Jerusalemites where most of them were minors and the Magistrate court judge postponed the trial of five Jerusalemite activists until next February. Mohammad Mahmoud, Al-Dameer organization lawyer, said that the general prosecution submitted a prosecutor’s permit to submit an indictment against Dia’ Hammoudeh which included charges of throwing stones in Al-Aqsa Mosque on 06/12/2013, and the judge extended his arrest until Thursday; note that he was arrested last Tuesday after raiding his home in the old city of Jerusalem. He added that the judge extended the arrest of the minors Salman Abu Sbitan, Mohammad Abu Sbitan, Mahdi Abu Sbitan, Seif Abu Jom’a and Amir Tamimi until Thursday to continue investigating them; note that they were arrested recently from the village of Al-Tur on charges of throwing stones. The court also extended the arrest of Zakaria Alqam from Al-Tur until next Thursday. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the District court judge extended the arrest of 7 children from Sur Baher aged between 14 and 17 years. He extended the arrest of Mohammad Ahmad Aton and Amir Al-Baseet until 23/12, and Mohammad Mahmoud Aton, Ahmad Abu A’bed, Lou’ai Hamada, Suhaib Afaneh, Mohammad Naser Abu A’bed until 24/12; note that the general prosecution accused them of throwing stones at an Israeli vehicle and injuring a child. On the other hand, the Magistrate court judge extended the trial of five Jerusalemite activists from Fateh movement for the fifth time during the current year, they are: Omar Shalabi, secretary of Fateh movement in Jerusalem; Mousa Abbasi, president of Palestinian Youth Parliament; Malek Haddad, Kayed Rajabi and Fadi Abu Sbeih. The general prosecution accused them of assaulting police individuals and obstructing their work in addition to participating in an illegal protest during the closing activities of “Jerusalem- Arab Capital of Culture” at Damascus gate in 2009.
