Madaa and Counseling organize a workshop entitled “Political violence against children”
Madaa Silwan Creative Center and in cooperation with the Palestinian Counseling Center organized last Monday a workshop entitled “Political violence against children”. The workshop coincided with the launch of an international campaign against the detention and torture of Palestinian children entitled “Room number 4” which was also organized by Madaa Center. Asma’ Eid from the Palestinian Counseling Center opened the workshop and explained the importance of the workshop in the presence of a number of parents, teachers and representatives of several local institutions. Niveen Tamimi, a social worker, talked about the work of the staff in the town of Silwan and the psychologist Hasan Faraj gave a detailed explanation about the mental state experienced by children as a result of the wrong political practices and their negative effects on children and their families. Mahmoud Qaraeen, an activist in Wadi Hilweh Information Center-Silwan, explained the legal status of arresting children, the investigations they are exposed to which are all against Israeli and International laws and norms.
