The occupation’s bulldozers demolish a barracks in Al-Tur
April 29, 2014

The occupation municipality’s bulldozers demolished a residential barracks owned by Abu Omar Maslamani on Tuesday morning in the neighbourhood of Al-Hardoub in Al-Tur. Witnesses informed Wadi Hilweh Information Center that a large Israeli force and Special Forces raided the neighbourhood of Al-Hardoub and completely surrounded the barracks to execute the demolition operation. Witnesses added that the Israeli forces prevented Maslamani family from emptying the barracks and clashes broke out between the two sides in which the Israeli forces assaulted the family members without excluding the elderly and the women. Witnesses explained that the forces arrested the owner’s son, Omar Maslamani and also arrested Ibrahim Shweiki. The bulldozers then demolished the 60-square meters barracks which has been built since April of last year; note that it is built from aluminium, gypsum and tin. Omar Maslamani explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center that the District court in Jerusalem decided at the beginning of the year to demolish two residential barracks owned by the family under the pretext of building without a permit. On 03/03/2014, the family self-demolished the 40-square meters barracks and postponed the demolition of the second barracks until finding an alternative home. Omar also explained that the municipality has been trying to confiscate the family’s land which is one Dunom in order to construct a main street; note that the blueprints of the street were proposed to the Israeli Knesset in 2000 but was never ratified.
