Arrests, extensions of arrests and releases
The Israeli police carried out a series of arrests in the villages of Um Tuba, Esawyeh, Silwan and the Old City of Jerusalem. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the Israeli forces raided several Jerusalemite neighborhoods and were supported by a helicopter. They also raided houses and arrested young men and children, among them were: Bilal Gheith, Abed Abu Sbeih, Khaled Qunbar, Saleh Abu Nab, Mohammad Jamal Ibrahim Abdullah Abu Ter, Ayman Khaled Fayez Abu Ter, Mohammad Nimer Abu Ter, Mohammad Khaled Ishaq Abu Ter and Dia’ Munir Mousa Abu Ter. The forces also arrested five young men from the village of Esawyeh and the Old City of Jerusalem as said by the Israeli police. In a related matter, the Magistrate court judge decided on Wednesday to release five minors with conditions of isolation from Al-Aqsa Mosque for 20 days and a financial bail of 250 NIS for each in addition to a house arrest for 10 days. The minors are: Nidal Zaghal, Samer Abu Sharkh, Hasan Gheith, Abdulrahman Baseet and Mohammad Abu Sneineh; note that they have been detained since 14/07/2014. Lawyer Mufeed Al-Hajj from the Prisoner’s Club said that the court released three young men with a bail of 500 NIS for each and isolation from Al-Aqsa Mosque for 20 days and 10 days of house arrest. They are: Mohammad Risheq, Mohammad Qudsi Dweik and Hasan Abu Qadous. The court also extended the arrest of Amjad Abu Sneineh and the minor Mohammad Sharifeh 24 hours until Thursday. The conditional release of two photographers The lawyer explained that the two journalist photographer, Eyad Tawil and Abdulafo Zghayyar, were released on conditions of paying a financial bail of 2000 NIS for each and signing a third-party bail of 3000 NIS in addition to isolation from Al-Aqsa for 30 days and house arrest for one week; note that lawyer A’mir Ahmad Marid from Al-Quds Development Organization defended them in court. Abdulafo pointed out that the police detained his personal equipment (a video camera, a Cannon camera with lenses, I Pad). They also detained Eyad’s cell phone under the pretext of continuing the investigations. Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud from Al-Dameer organization followed up with the case of the minor Murad Ashhab who was released with a financial bail of 500 NIS, house arrest for 7 days and isolation from Al-Aqsa Mosque for 20 days. Lawyer Mufeed Al-Hajj said that two brothers from Shu’fat, Mohammad and Abdulrahim Ishaq Issa, were released with no conditions. He added: “regarding the two young men from Shu’fat, Ayman Mohammad Odat Allah and Nihad Mahmoud Idris, the police extended their arrest until next Wednesday.” Isolating three children from Al-Aqsa In the same context, the police released on Wednesday three Jerusalemite children after the Magistrate court ordered to isolate them from Al-Aqsa Mosque for two weeks and also made them sign a third-party bail of 5000 NIS. The children are: Hasan Khalfawi, Abdelrazzak Tutanji and Faisal Shabaneh. They were arrested on Tuesday while they were exiting Al-Aqsa Mosque and the police extended their arrest for 24 hours on charges of throwing stones inside Al-Aqsa. Lawyer Mufeed Al-Hajj said that the police released two young men and one minor from Salah Eddin police station with their parents’ bail after detaining them for 24 hours, they are: Mohammad Abulhawa, Omar Farid and the child Abdulrahman Abulhawa. He added: “the police also released yesterday the 14-year old Munir Ajloni on condition of paying a bail of 2000 NIS and house arrest until 27/07/2014. Munir was arrested on Tuesday and the police extended his arrest for 24 hours while the public prosecution requested to extend his arrest for three days but the judge refused due to his young age. The prosecution then appealed the judge’s decision in the District court which refused the appeal and remained on the Magistrate court’s decision.”
