In pictures: The funeral of the Martyr Mohammad Ja’abees under strict Israeli restrictions
Dozens of locals from Jabal Al-Mukabber participated in the funeral of the 21-year old Martyr Mohammad Ja’abees after midnight Wednesday in the cemetery of Jabal Al-Mukabber with the presence of Israeli police. The Israeli forces handed the body of Ja’abees to his family in the neighborhood of Jabal Al-Mukabber south of Jerusalem after detaining it for three days and the Israeli authorities imposed conditions on the family to carry out the funeral with the presence of first degree relatives only and to bury his body immediately after receiving the body and away from the media and avoid the traditions of a Martyr’s funeral. Mohammad Ja’abees had passed away after his bulldozer collided with an Israeli bus on Monday afternoon in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah near “Street number 1” which led to the death of one Israeli Rabbi and the injury of six others; fire was opened towards the Martyr after the incident. The family of Ja’abees declined the Israeli claims that their son deliberately collided with the bus. Abu Amjad, Mohammad’s uncle, said: “there are videos recorded by witnesses which show that Mohammad was shot by settlers and then tried to escape from the area, but they continued to shoot at him and that’s when he collided with the bus. Then, random fire was opened at him which led to his immediate death.” He added: “the Israeli claims are well-known after killing any Palestinian. We refuse those claims since Mohammad was working and he was assaulted before colliding with the bus.”
