The Magistrate court in “Rishon Litzion” extend the arrest of 60 Jerusalemites
The Magistrate court in the settlement of Rishon Litzion extended on Wednesday night the arrest of dozens of young men and minors from Jerusalem for periods between 24 and 48 hours. The judge extended the arrest of the minor detainees until 4 p.m. on Thursday while detainees above the age 18 will be detained until12 p.m. on Friday. The public prosecution accused the detainees of several charges including attacking soldiers, possession of firecrackers, throwing stones and others charges. Lawyers Khaled Zabarqa from the Jerusalem Organization for Development, lawyer Tarek Barghouti, lawyers Ihab Ghalith and Nasim Abu Qteish from the “Ministry of Prisoners the Freed”, lawyers Mufeed Al-Hajj and Saleh Ayoub and Ma’moon Hasheem from the Prisoners Club and lawyer Jad Qadamani (volunteer) defended the detainees; note that “Lahav” unit from the occupation police took responsibility in the interrogation of the detainees in their detention center in Lod. Lawyer Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee explained that a special unit from the “Lahav” carried out the arrests in the city of Jerusalem as requested and recommended by Israeli officials in order to maintain security in Jerusalem after the incidents that occurred in the city after the kidnapping and killing of the child Mohammad Abu Khdeir. Abu Asab added that all the detainees were transferred to interrogation centers in Lod after the Magistrate court judges in Jerusalem complained about “being very busy”. Abu Asab explained that transferring the detainees outside the city of Jerusalem was most likely done in order to confuse and weaken the detainees as well as their families. In a related matter, the Magistrate court judge in Jerusalem extended the arrest of Ammar Shawa until next Sunday and he was transferred to Al-Maskobyeh cells.
