Renewing the administrative arrest of the Jerusalemite prisoner Midhat Obeid

The District court judge renewed for the second consecutive time on Wednesday the administrative arrest of the 24-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Midhat Obeid from the village of Esawyeh in Jerusalem. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, explained that a “Judiciary monitoring session” was held for Midhat after he completed his three months of administrative arrest. The lawyer requested to release his client by the judge refused and renewed his sentence for three more months. The lawyer pointed out that Obeid was arrested at the beginning of last July and was interrogated in “Room number 4” in Al-Maskobyeh on charges of membership in an organization. No confessions or evidence was found against the prisoner Obeid but the Israeli Defense Minister issued a decision to arrest him for six months few days after Obeid was arrested. After several sessions, the sentence was reduced to three months during a “Judiciary monitoring” session.
