In pictures: Demolishing a residential room and a barracks owned by Khaled Al-Zerr in Silwan
October 29, 2014

The bulldozers of the Nature and Parks Authority demolished on Wednesday morning a residential room, a barracks and storages owned by Khaled Al-Zeer in the neighborhood of Al-Abbasyeh in Silwan. The Nature and Parks Authority’s crews, occupation municipality, a large number of Israeli forces, police and Special Forces raided Silwan along with bulldozers and supported by helicopters. They were deployed in the neighborhood of Al-Abbasyeh and then broke into the room of Khaled Al-Zeer and detained his ID and arrested him and his brother Fahmi after assaulting and severely beating him. The bulldozers demolished a 20-sqaure meters residential room that is built from bricks, a 12-sqaure meters barracks made from tin plates and used for horses and sheep and storages which are still under constructions and a supporting wall. The bulldozers had demolished the house of Khaled Al-Zeer in 2013 and he was forced to live in a cave in his land with his family of seven members. He was then harassed by the Nature and Parks Authority under the pretext of the presence of antiquities in the land and his attempt to change the nature of the land. He was forced to build a small room for him and his family to live-in and the Magistrate judge decided to stop the renovation he was doing in the cave while allowed him to love in the room since he doesn’t have anywhere else to stay.
