Settlers attempt to take over a residential building in Silwan and the locals confront them
November 9, 2014

Settlers attempted to take over an abandoned residential building in the “Middle Neighborhood” in Silwan on Sunday night. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that a group of armed settlers (6-8 people) raided the Middle Neighborhood and tried to take over a residential building owned by Saleh Shyoukhi. They were stationed at the building’s entrances and chanted “we own this”, but the young men who were in the area confronted them and prevented them from moving forwards and threw stones and empty bottles forcing them to leave. The center added that the settlers came back with Special Forces personnel but were confronted by the young men again. The building consists of two floors and has been abandoned for year; it is close by the buildings that were recently sold to the settlers.
