The Israeli authorities continue to detain the bodies of the Martyrs Abu Al-Jamal
November 23, 2014

Six days after the Martyrdom of the 31-year old Ghassan Abu Al-Jamal and his 22-year old cousin Odai Abu Al-Jamal, the Israeli authorities are still keeping their bodies and refuse to give them to the their families to bury them. The Israeli Minister of Internal Security announced on the day of their Martyrdom that they will be buried outside Jerusalem but the Magistrate and District judges agreed to the Intelligence’s request of not giving the bodies to their families under the pretext of “investigating the operation” and that the Israeli leadership is discussing the release of the bodies and said: “not releasing the bodies is to deter others from committing similar operations." Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, who is following-up with the Martyrs’ case explained that the Israeli police did not respond as of Sunday night to the request of releasing the bodies in order to bury them and said that he will submit an appeal to the Israeli court to release the bodies. On the other hand, lawyer Mahmoud submitted on Sunday an objection to “Hamoked” institution against their decision to demolish the houses of the Martyrs Abu Al-Jamal in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber as well as the house of the Martyr Mutaz Hijazi in the neighborhood of Al-Thori in Silwan; the lawyer pointed out that the decision will be made in the next few days.
