The Supreme Court cancels a prison sentence against a minor…extensions of arrest and releases
The Israeli Supreme Court cancelled on Wednesday the 9-month prison sentence against the minor Mohammad Dari. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, explained that the District court judge sentenced the minor Mohammad Dari for 9 months of actual imprisonment but he (lawyer Mahmoud) appealed the sentence in the Supreme Court and the sentence was cancelled on Wednesday because it is not appropriate to the charges against Dari. The judge considered the duration of imprisonment to be too much and decided to only transfer the minor to the “conduct officer”. A session was scheduled for next May and the child was released after being detained for several days and is currently waiting for the Supreme Court’s sentence. Lawyer Mahmoud also said that the Magistrate judge extended the arrest of the 17-year old Omar Abulhawa from Al-Tur and the 17-year old Nidal Abu Mayaleh from the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud in Silwan until Friday. The lawyer added that the District court judge approved the appeal submitted by the lawyer against the decision of extending the arrest of the minors Basel Qutob and Ahmad Bakri and released them with a third-party bail and house arrest for five days. The judge also decided to release Bilal Al-A‘war and Mohammad Abed Al-A’war with a third-party bail and house arrest for 5 days, and release Majd Halayqa with a 600-NIS bail and house arrest for five days. The Israeli forces arrested on Wednesday Njood Mteir when she was near one of Al-Aqsa Mosque’s Gates. The forces also arrested the child Tayseer Mohammad Alqam from Al-Tur.
