The release of one child and a young man from Silwan
The administration of Hasharon and Hadarim prisons released on Thursday two Jerusalemite prisoners from Silwan and Ras Al-Amoud. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that Hasharon prison administration released the 16-year old Jerusalemite Ayman Sameeh Abbasi from the neighborhood of Ras Al-Amoud after completing his 17-month prison sentence in the Israeli prisons. Abbasi’s family and friends were waiting outside the prison and escorted him to Ras Al-Amoud where the locals welcomed him. Abbasi was arrested on 11/11/2012 and was detained for two weeks. He was then released and was under house arrest for 10 months until he turned himself in to serve his 18-month prison sentence on charges of stabbing a settler in Ras Al-Amoud. Abbasi said: “I was released after completing 17 months out of my 18-month prison sentence and after paying a fine of three thousand NIS and a suspended probation of six months for three years.” He explained that he left 38 minors behind him in Hasharon prison that are between 13 and 17 years old from Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza; he pointed out that two prisoners in their 30s were responsible for the minor prisoners. It is noteworthy that Ayman is the brother of the Jerusalemite prisoner Mohammad Abbasi who is currently serving a 7-year prison sentence. Hadarim prison administration also released on Thursday the 23-year old Basem Da’na who is a resident of the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh in Silwan after spending two months in Hadarim prison. Da’na was accused of attacking an Israeli soldier and throwing stones 8 months ago and was sentenced for two months in prison; he turned himself in on 22/12/2014.
