The end of the evacuation deadline of Shamasneh family from their house in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah
The deadline given to Shamasneh family to evacuate their house in the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah in favor of the settlers was on Sunday March 1st, 2015 as ordered by the Israeli Supreme Court. Shamasneh family lived in large concern and fear after they received a letter last Thursday (26/2/2015) from the lawyer of the “Guardian of Absentee Property” requesting the family to evacuate the house on the 1st of March based on the decision made by the Israeli Supreme Court or otherwise they will be evicted by force. The court’s decision was made on 29/8/2013 and gave the family a year and a half to execute the evacuation order. Hajj Ayoub Shamasneh has lived in the house since 1964 and currently ten individuals live in the house. Hajj Shamasneh used to pay the leasing fees to the Jordanian authorities and then continued paying after 1967 to the Israeli authorities that renewed their leasing contract and the family was given the title of “protected tenant” since 1968. In 2011, the administration of “Guardian of Absentee Property” went to court to evacuate Shamasneh family claiming that the leasing contract ended in 2008. .
