Releasing a young man (mute and deaf) from Al-Tur on condition of house arrest…extensions of arrest
The District court judge decided on Friday to extend the arrest of the 19-year old Taha Mohammad Abulhawa on conditions of house arrest and a 1000-NIS bail. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, explained that the Magistrate judge decided on Thursday to release Abulhawa on condition of house arrest and a 4000-NIS bail but the prosecution appealed the decision at the District court and the judge extended his arrest until Friday. Lawyer Mahmoud added that the District judge decided to release him and rejected the prosecution’s appeal and also reduced the amount of financial bail imposed by the Magistrate judge. The lawyer also explained that a prosecutor’s permit was submitted during Thursday’s session to submit an indictment against his client Abulhawa. It is noteworthy that Abulhawa is mute and deaf and also suffers from poor vision; note that he was arrested last Monday while he was near his uncle’s house. In a related matter, the Magistrate judge extended the arrest of Mohammad Mughrabi until 15/3/2015 and Mouath Abulhawa until 19/3/2015 and Omar Abulhawa until 26/3/2015 for the conduct officer’s report. He also added that the District court judge extended the arrest of Mohammad Abu Saud until 21/3/2015 and Mohammad Ziad Abu Sbitan until completing the legal procedures against him. The Magistrate judge also decided to release Mohammad Sleiteh and Omar Abulhawa without any conditions. Majdi Is’eed was presented to court on Thursday and a witnesses’ hearing session on 27/4/2015.
