March 16, 2015

The District Court judge refused on Monday the request of freezing the order of evacuating the family of Sub Laban from their property in the Old City of Jerusalem meaning that the family could be evacuated at any time. Sub Laban family explained that their lawyer will be submitting a request to the Israeli Supreme Court to freeze the evacuation order after the District judge refused it. The family also explained that the District court froze on Monday morning an order of evacuating the house in favor of the settlers unti1 p.m and Sub Laban family submitted a request to stop the evacuation order. The order also gave the settlers’ lawyer until 2 p.m. to submit his request and the judge would then make his decision. An Israeli force surrounded the house of Sub Laban family on Monday morning and tried to evacuate the residents in favor of the settlers. They also brought the demolition tools with them in order to remove the front door and evacuate the family by force but the lawyer interfered and was able to postpone the evacuation for two hours. Sub Laban family explained that they rented the house in 1956 and have been paying rent as a protected tenant, but the settlers filed a case against the family claiming that the house is not being used. The Magistrate judge issued an order to evacuate the family and an appeal was submitted to the District court.
