Silwan: Arresting five Jerusalemites from Al-Thori and clashes in the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh
Clashes broke out last Friday night in the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh in Silwan in which the Israeli forces fired live bullets to disperse the young men. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, said that the occupation forces arrested five Jerusalemites from the neighborhood of Al-Thori in Silwan. They are: Hani Shweiki (27), Basel Shweiki (20), Mahmoud Ashoor (16), Amjad Shweiki (16) and Tawfiq Shweiki (17). Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that clashes broke out between the young men and the occupation forces that were stationed in Ein Al-Lozeh Street after fire broke out in one of the forces’ vehicles due to Molotov Cocktails that were thrown towards the vehicle. The soldiers responded with live bullets, sound grenades and rubber bullets to disperse the young men. Wadi Hilweh Information Center’s staff added that the soldiers fired the sound grenades towards the locals’ cars in the neighborhood. Minutes later, occupation forces individuals along with one officer raided the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh and established mobile checkpoints to check the cars. The Center added that the forces searched the streets in addition to one land owned by Abbasi family. The locals of Ein Al-Lozeh complained about targeting the residential houses with tear gas especially the house of Hadyeh Shweiki; several citizens suffocated. The staff added that the occupation soldiers deliberately caused heavy traffic jams in the street of Ein Al-Lozeh while they were searching the locals’ vehicle.
