Sentencing three Jerusalemites and releasing a child
The District court judge sentenced on Thursday three Jerusalemites for periods between 15 months and 9 years of actual imprisonment. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed by Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, that the District judge sentenced the 24-year old Bashar Eyad Ahmad Obeidi for 9 years of actual imprisonment and a suspended probation of 10 months for three years. He also sentenced the 22-year old Mohammad Fawaz Abdulrahman for 7 years of actual imprisonment. Obeidi, Mohammad and Adnan Salaldeh whose arrest was extended until 2/6/2016 were accused of possession of weapons and shooting at the settlement of Ramat which is near Shu’fat in addition to belonging to the Popular Front Movement. Abu Asab added that the District court sentenced the Jerusalemite minor (17) Riyad Adel Aqel Abu Ta’a for 15 months of actual imprisonment and a suspended probation of 9 months in addition to a 10-thousand NIS fine; note that he was convicted of throwing stones at the occupation forces. Riyad was arrested on 14/12/2014 and was transferred in between several prisons and is currently imprisoned in Hasharon prison; he is a resident of the neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah. Releasing Obaida Is’eed On the other hand, the Israeli authorities released on Thursday the 17-year old Obaida Amer Is’eed from Hasharon prison after he completed his one and a half-year prison sentence; he is a resident of Bab Hutta in the Old City of Jerusalem. Obaida’s father explained that this was not the first time his son gets arrested. He was previously arrested and detained for 6 months and was stopped several times; he spent his time in Hasharon and Megiddo prisons. He pointed out that his son Obaida went on a hunger strike for 18 days to condemn detaining him with the criminal prisoners.
