Arrests and injuries…A Palestinian Carnival in response to the” Jewish Festival of Lights”
The occupation forces arrested three young Jerusalemite men and assaulted dozens with beating, sound grenades and pepper gas during the Palestinians carnival of “Jerusalem is Ours” which was organized in response to the Jewish Festival of Lights.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the forces arrested the head of Fateh Youth in Jerusalem, Ahmad Al-Ghoul, the activist Samer Abu Eisheh and Tarek Zidan and transferred him to interrogation centers.
The Center was informed that Samer Abu Eisheh was arrested while wearing the “clown” costume for the children’s activities.
During the Palestinian carnival, one young man was injures with wounds in his head after he was assaulted and directly hit on the head by Israeli Special Forces. the activist Amin Siam was also injured with bruises after being deliberately pushed to the ground by a police officer.
Jerusalemites confronted the Jewish Festival of Lights that is organized by the occupation municipality every year, and organized the carnival of” Jerusalem is ours” with the participation of dozens of Jerusalemites and their children.
Jerusalemites gathered in the area of Damascus Gate and children gathered around the young men who were giving out balloons and carried out special events for the children. Police forces and Israeli intelligence were deployed in the area and attempted to prevent the Palestinian carnival under the pretext of not being licensed.
Wadi Hilweh Information Center explained that only minutes after the carnival started and during a “Dabkeh” (Palestinian traditional dance) show, the occupation Special Forces surrounded the participants and confiscated the speaker; young men responded with chants and continued their activities.
Jerusalemites confirmed that the occupation authorities aim at obliterating the Arab city to change the course of history and culture of the Arab identity of Jerusalem through the Jewish Festival of Lights.
The paramedics of Burj Al-Laqlaq explained to the Information Center that seven people were injured with fractures, wounds and burns by pepper gas and they were transferred to the hospital for treatment.
