A sit-in at Al-Aqsa Mosque in solidarity with the prisoners
The Prisoner’s Club in Jerusalem and the Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee organized on Friday a sit-in in solidarity with the prisoners in the occupation’s prison. Dozens of Jerusalemites held pictures of the two prisoners who are currently on hunger strike, Khader Adnan and the Jerusalemite Ayman Sharabati, and chanted for them and their freedom. They also chanted for the steadfastness of the prisoners in Israeli jails. Prisoner Ayman Sharabati The 47-year old Ayman Ribhi Sharabati was arrested on 17/3/1998 and was sentenced for life in prison after he was convicted of carrying out several attacks against settlers in the Old City of Jerusalem that led to the death of one settler and injury of another. He was also convicted of membership in Fateh Movement. Ayman has four children and when he was arrested he had three as his wife was still pregnant. The occupation prison’s administration isolated Sharabati after accusing him of burning the Israeli flag and he has been on hunger strike since the beginning of June to condemn the policy of solitary confinement and the difficult conditions our prisoners suffer inside the Israeli jails. Prisoner Khader Adnan The 37-year old prisoner Khader Adnan has been on hunger strike for 46 days to condemn his administrative arrest. He is currently detained in “Assaf Harofeh” hospital in the Department of Internal Medicine and is suffering a serious deterioration of his health.
