Sentencing a Jerusalemite young man…extensions of arrest and releases
June 30, 2015

The District judge sentenced on Tuesday a Jerusalemite young man and extended the arrest of another. Al-Dameer organization lawyer, Mohammad Mahmoud, explained that the District judge sentenced Ali Obeidyeh for 7 months of actual imprisonment and a suspended probation of six months for three years on charges of “burning tires and closing roads”. Lawyer Mahmoud added that the Magistrate judge decided to release Tarek Kurd with a 500-NIS bail and banned him from approaching or participating in any “gathering” for one and a half months; note that the police requested to deport him from the Old City of Jerusalem for 60 days but the judge refused. It is noteworthy that Tarek and his father were arrested on Tuesday morning after raiding their house in the Old City of Jerusalem only hours after Tarek was released after completing his six and a half months prison sentence. Tarek was interrogated regarding the welcoming celebration held after his release. In a related matter, the District judge extended the arrest of Yazan Mheisen until 8/9/2015. Saleh Abu Asab and Hussam Alayan were presented to the Magistrate court and a session was scheduled for them on 6/10/2015, and a session scheduled for Hamzeh Syouri on 8/7/2015; note that none of them is detained.
