October 30, 2015

The 52-year old Nadim Shkeirat passed away on Thursday due to the delay of ambulance arrival to his house in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber because of the checkpoints and cement blocks inside the village’s streets. Mohammad Bashir, spokesman of Nouran charitable society, explained that paramedics arrived at the house of Shkeirat nearly 11 minutes after receiving a phone call from the patient’s family. The medical staff was delayed due to the traffic jams in the village because of the cement blocks placed by the occupation authorities as well as checkpoints established in the village’s streets; usually, the same way shouldn’t take more than 7 minutes. Bashir added that the patient suffered a heart attack and lost consciousness. He received first aid and electric shocks and intensive care units of “Magen David Adom” were called and arrived to the entrance of the village near O’z police center; they refused to enter the village under the pretext of not being accompanied by a police car. He continued: “Nouran’s staff transferred the patient to the Israeli ambulance but was delayed by the checkpoint established at the entrance of the village, and the patient was announced dead immediately.”
