Extending the arrest of the child Ahmad Manasra…suppressing a supporting sit-in
The 13-year old Jerusalemite child Ahmad Manasra was presented to the District court on Tuesday and the judge extended his arrest until 26/11/2015. The child Manasra was accused of two murder attempts and possession of a knife. He was critically injured on 12/10/2015 after being run-over and beat by settlers and occupation forces in the settlement of Pisgat Zi’ev north of Jerusalem after being accused of stabbing a settler in the area along with s cousin Hasan Manasra who passed away after being shot by the occupation forces. A supporting sit-in During the court session of the child Manasra, Fateh movement in the district of Jerusalem organized a sit-in to support Manasra and participants raised pictures of the Jerusalemite prisoner. Participants also raised slogans of phrases said by the child during the interrogation such as “My head hurts” to express their anger on the method used during the interrogation as the interrogator attempted to extract confessions from Manasra that he was holding a knife and he attempted to kill settlers; Manasra repetitively said “I forgot, I can’t remember anything”. Participants wondered during the sit-in where the International organizations that protect children’s right are? Where the Arab leaders are and their opinion in regards to the case of Manasra in specific and Palestinian children in general who are exposed to harassment, arrest, beating and murder on a daily basis!!! Suppressing the supporting sit-in The occupation forces suppressed the participants with sound grenades, pushing and beating and also checked the IDs of several participants and threatened to arrest them. The occupation authorities transferred Manasra from Hasharon children prison to a rehabilitation center in the occupied part of north Palestine (1948 lands) in order to avoid the legal status which does not allow the arrest of children under the age of 14 years.
