Extending the arrest of the child Gheith despite being assaulted by a settler
The Magistrate judge extended the arrest of 13-year old Nour Jamil Abdulrahman Zaghal until Friday to interrogate him on suspicion of assaulting a settler, burning the Israeli flag and attempt to burn a settlement outpost. Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that a session was held for the child on Wednesday night at the Magistrate court in order to extend his arrest and interrogate him on the above mentioned charges. Gheith explained to the lawyer that he was playing “football” with a group of friends in the neighborhood of Al-Thori in Silwan. One settler approached them and sprayed pepper gas towards him; the child fell on the ground. Gheith added that the settler took the child inside the settlement outpost in Al-Thori and called the police. While waiting for the police, the settler hit and insulted the child. The police then arrested the child and transferred him to O’z police center in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber.
