Demolition orders in Silwan…clashes in the village of Esawyeh and Jabal Al-Mukabber and in Shu’fat refugee camp

The occupation municipality’s staff along with Special Forces raided Silwan and distributed administrative demolition orders to commercial and residential establishments while clashes broke out in Shu’fat refugee camp and the villages of Esawyeh and Jabal Al-Mukabber. Wadi Hilweh Information Center was informed that the municipality’s staff raided the neighborhoods of Ein Al-Lozeh, Al-Bustan and Bi’er Ayoub and took pictures of neighborhoods and establishments; they distributed 5 demolition orders to commercial and residential establishments that have been built for years. Mohammad Odeh is a resident of Al-Bustan neighborhood. He received a demolition order to his house; it was built in 1998 and 9 individuals including children live in the house. The forces arrested on Friday night the 15-year old Mohammad Sufian Atrash after assaulting and severely beating him in the Middle Neighborhood in Silwan. The forces also established a checkpoint in the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh and pulled over vehicles and randomly issued traffic tickets. Clashes broke out in the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber between young men and occupation forces after the suppressed a peaceful march in the village with tear gas canister, rubber bullets and sound grenades. The main requests of the locals of Jabal Al-Mukabber were:

  • Releasing the Martyrs’ bodies to bury them according to the religious rites.
  • Stopping the demolition policy against Martyrs’ families.
  • Removing the cement blocks that obstruct internal movement.
A citizen broke his hand after falling to the ground while the occupation forces fired tear gas towards the participants and several young men were injured with rubber bullets and suffocation. Clashes also broke out in the village of Esawyeh between young men and occupation forces. Violent clashes broke out in Shu’fat refugee camp and several young men suffocated due to tear- gas canisters. A big march launched on Friday in the streets of Shu’fat refugee camp requesting the release of Martyrs’ bodies and supporting Martyr Ibrahim Akari after demolishing his house using explosives.
