Silwan: A decision to freeze the evacuation procedures of Basbous family from their residential building
The Magistrate court issued on Tuesday a decision to freeze the procedures of evacuating Basbous family from their residential building in the neighborhood of Batn Al-Hawa in Silwan. Raed Basbous explained to Wadi Hilweh Information Center (WHIC) that the Magistrate judge decided to evacuation procedures issued by the “Israeli Collection Agency” which required evacuating the building at the end of the current year. The judge postponed the procedures until making a decision regarding the evacuation notice which was issued in absentia with the family’s knowledge. The occupation authorities issued last July an absentia order to evacuate Basbous family from their building claiming that the family did not object to the judicial lawsuits against them filed by the settlement organization “Ateerat Cohanim”. Basbous family confirmed not receiving any judicial notices from Ateerat Cohanim and was surprised by the evacuation decision in favor of the settlers. WHIC explained that Basbous family building consists of three residential apartments where Ra’fat and his family (6 individuals), Raed and his family (6 individuals) and Mohammad and his wife live.
