Arrests…prison sentences and fines…extensions of arrest

The occupation forces arrested on Tuesday the 14-year old Yousef Mohammad Rweidi from the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh in Silwan while he was heading home after finishing school. In a related matter, the forces arrested a 13-year old child from the neighborhood of Shu’fat under the pretext of throwing stones at the light rail as explained by the occupation police. Witnesses explained that the Israeli forces also arrested 12-year old Amir Akari after leaving his school in the village of Al-Tur. Also, Rawan Abu Ghosh was arrested by the occupation intelligence from inside the Hebrew University in Jerusalem. Prison sentences and fines… Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the judges sentenced several children and minors for actual imprisonment and fine, they are: • Ali Sayyad: sentenced for 5 months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 6 months for three years and a 4800-NIS fine. • Ahmad Naser: sentenced for 7 months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 6 months for three years and a 4800-NIS fine. • Mohammad Mahmoud: sentenced for 5 months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 3 months for three years and a 3600-NIS fine. • Tawfiq Shweiki: sentenced for 22 months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 10 months for three years and a 5000-NIS fine. • Ahmad Abu Sharkh: sentenced for 18 months of actual imprisonment, a suspended probation of 6 months for three years and a 1000-NIS fine. An indictment against minors Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the public prosecutor submitted to the Magistrate judge an indictment against the minors Mohammad Shweiki and Yousef Shweiki that included charges of possession of knives and planning to carry our criminal attacks. Releases Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud also explained that the judge also decided to release a group of young men and children. On the other hand, the occupation police released on Monday the 13-year old Akram Obeid with a 1000-NIS bail, house-arrest for three days and a third-party bail; he was arrested from the village of Esawyeh and interrogated for several hours. The judge also decided to release Khader Abu Ghannam with a 7500-NIS bail, a third-party bail, house arrest and deportation to Beit Hanina. The releasing conditions (house arrest) imposed on the child Haitham Khweis remained unchanged. The judge also decided to release Daoud Atyeh with a third-party bail, 500-NIS bail and house-arrest for 5 days. The judge refused the prosecution’s request to extend the house arrest imposed on Daoud Ammouri. Also, Malek Sroor, Nader Abdo, Tawfiq Abu Dheim and Ahmad Aweisat were released on condition of house-arrest and a 1000-NIS bail for each. Extensions of arrest Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud added that the judge extended the arrest of the minors Omar Abu Madi until 8/2/2016; Abed Salloum until 7/2/2016; Mohammad Haymooni until 29/3/2016; Manar Shweiki until 21/1/2016; Yazan Obeid, Ahmad Abu Qalbein and Jala Bayya’ until 2/2/2016 and Ahmad Obeidat until 12/4/2016 (under house arrest). The judge also decided to reduced the house-arrest condition imposed on the child Mohammad Hatem Abulhawa by allowing him to go to school. He extended the arrest of Mohammad Jarrah until 31/1/2016, Bara’ Mahmoud until the so-called conduct officer released his report on 26/1/2016, Ahmad Za’tari until 14/1/2016 (detained in an internal institution). The judge extended the arrest of Bilal Abu Ghannam and Subhi Abu Khalifeh until 8/2/2016, Odai Dari until 7/3/2016, Samer Abu Eisheh and Hijazi Abu Sbeih until 14/1/2016; note that Abu Eisheh and Abu Sbeih were arrested from inside the Red Cross headquarters in Jerusalem after carrying out a strike in refusal to the military order of deporting them from the city of Jerusalem. The judge also extended the arrest of Mohammad Mheisen until 14/1/2016, Mohammad Jayousi until 7/2/2016 and Mohammad Jaber Abbasi until 16/2/2016 (witnesses hearing session). He also extended the arrest of Huthayfa Taha until 21/1/2016, Naeem Abu Sara until 31/1/2016 and Yehya Dirbas until 23/3/2016. Upcoming sessions for sentencing Majd Mustafa, Mohammad Obeid and Hani Naser were presented to the judge and a session was scheduled for them on 28/3/2016 for sentencing; they are not detained. The judge also scheduled a session for Mohammad As’ad and Muhtadi As’ad on 24/2/2016; the indictment against them was modified during the session. Also, a session was scheduled for Baker Mughrabi and Issa Abu Jom’a on 15/2/2016 for sentencing.
