Arrests…prison sentences…administrative arrest…extensions of arrest
The District and Magistrate judges sentenced three Jerusalemite young men for actual imprisonment while the Minister of Defense transferred one young man to administrative arrest. Lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud explained that the District judge sentenced 22-year old Suhaib Abu Sa’ed for 8 months of actual imprisonment, a 2000-NIS fine and a suspended probation of 4 months for three years. Amjad Abu Asab, head of Jerusalemites detainees and prisoners families committee, explained that the District judge also sentenced the 30-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Dirgham Issa Hussein Abu Sakran from the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber for 11 months of actual imprisonment after convicting him of incitement on Facebook. Dirgham was arrested on 6/9/2015 and was interrogated at Al-Maskobyeh center; he was transferred in between several prisons and is currently imprisoned in Megiddo prison. Abu Asab added that the Magistrate judge in Jerusalem sentenced the 29-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Obaida Salman Tawil for 12 months of actual imprisonment after convicting him of incitement on Facebook; he has been detained since 25/8/2015. It is noteworthy that Obaida is married and has two children. He was previously arrested several times and spent 8 years inside the occupation’s prisons; he was also under house-arrest for some time. Administrative arrest Following an order from the Minister of Defense, Moshe Ya’alon, the occupation authorities transferred on Thursday the 20-year old Jerusalemite prisoner Malek Abu Dheim from the village of Jabal Al-Mukabber to administrative arrest for three months. Extensions of arrest… On the other hand, lawyer Mohammad Mahmoud said that the District court extended the arrest of Amir Salloum and Laith Husseini until 22/2/2016, Ala’ Halseh until 15/1/2016, Eyad Jandal until 3/2/2016, Mahmoud Abu Usba’ until 1/2/2016, Baha’ Aweisat until 26/1/2016 and Mohammad Abbasi until 24/2/2016. The judge also extended the arrest of Mohammad Kulghasi (17), Majd Saeed Abu Khdeir (14), and Ala’ Abu Khdeir (14) until Friday. Also, the District judge extended the arrest of Mahmoud Is’eed, Mufeed Is’eed and Huthayfa Taha until 18/1/2016, Majd Hadreh until 19/1/2016 and Adnan Rajabi until 1/3/2016. The judge also extended the arrest of Mohammad Burqan until 21/1/2016, Mahmoud Mheisen until 19/1/2016 and Saeed Qumboz until 18/1/2016 to submit an indictment against them. The judge extended the arrest of Hijazi Abu Sbeih and Samer Abu Eisheh until 17/1/2016 to submit an indictment against them. Release… The occupation police released Ibrahim Hadreh and Mohammad Hadreh on conditions of house-arrest for 5 days and a third-party bail for each. The District judge also extended the arrest of 12-year old Shadi Farrah and 12-year old Ahmad Za’tari until 19/1/2016; they are both detained inside an internal rehabilitation institution. Arrests and suppression On the other hand, the forces arrested Abu Baker Shaymi after suppressing and preventing a conference entitled “Our Humanity is stronger than your ban” from being held at the Commodore Hotel in Jerusalem. The conference was organized by the campaign against the banning of the Islamic Movement and the freedom committee emanating from the follow-up committee. The Israeli forces also arrested the minors Mohammad Abu Sbitan and Basem Abu Sbitan from the village of Al-Tur. Clashes in Silwan Occupation forces raided on Thursday night Hosh Abu Tayeh in the neighborhood of Ein Al-Lozeh in Silwan and randomly fired sound grenades and tear-gas canisters towards the locals’ properties which led to the damage of several windows. Also, several residents suffocated due to tear gas and the forces closed the road and prevented vehicles from passing through; they insulted drivers and threatened to fire grenades towards them.
