Shu’fat: The occupation arrests and assaults a young man under the pretext of “possession of a knife”
The occupation forces arrested on Monday the 18-year old Taha Emran Abu Khdeir from in front of his house in the neighborhood of Shu’fat north of Jerusalem on charges of “possession of a knife”. After interrogating and assaulting him for several hours, it was revealed that the young man was carrying a knife and was heading to the family’s “divan” where his grandmother’s consolation was being held. Taha’s mother explained that the occupation forces (Musta’ribeen-undercover police) arrested her son after leaving the house and on his way to his grandmother’s consolation. He was carrying a knife in order to use for cutting bread as the family’s youths were preparing the food and cutting bread. She added: “While Taha was walking, a Musta’ribeen unit attacked him. They assaulted and arrested him. The family was informed through some relatives who witnessed the arrest.” Taha’s mother also explained that her son was transferred to Nabi Yaakov police station. The police informed the family that their son is “detained” pending investigation. In a police statement, they said that they arrested a young man from Silwan under the pretext of “possession of a knife” after the young man approached the police holding the knife in his hand. Taha’s mother said: “The forces were in civilian clothes. How would Taha approach them without knowing who they are? The knife is for cutting bread and the area doesn’t have anybody but its residents.” The mother added that her son explained to the interrogator that he was arrested from in front of his house and they reason why he was holding a knife. Taha was released on condition of house-arrest until next Thursday.
